In Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, three Spirits of Christmas awakened Scrooge during the night. In the morning he remarked, “It’s Christmas Day! I haven’t missed it. The Spirits have done it all in one night. They can do anything they like. Of course they can. Of course they can!”
We couldn’t be more excited about our ministry and what God is doing, and in this letter we’ll invite you to partner with us financially to help keep our ministry strong. But first, let us tell you one recent, exciting story.
Like Scrooge, in one recent night, the Holy Spirit accomplished for us something quite special. This fall in Kids Club we challenged the kids to pray for one particular girl who has been bullying and hurting kids in the apartment complex in which many of them live. Many of them have been victims of her unusually violent behavior. We told the kids we need to love the girl to Jesus, not alienate her by rejecting her for her harmful actions. She seems to be the “hot topic” at the elementary school, dreaded and alienated by students and teachers as well.
When the day came for us to go meet the girl, the apartment was empty. A family who lives in the complex confirmed that she had not been seen in the apartments or at school for weeks. We assumed that her family had been evicted. Weeks passed. Then one week ago as some moms and I were parking to attend a Christmas tea at church, one of the moms said to me, “There she is! The girl you have been praying for.” I was able to meet the girl after all—and her mother and sisters!
The mom who informed me is becoming a friend of ours. She understands the importance of teaching the kids about Jesus, but she does not have a personal relationship with Him yet. On the way home, I mentioned to my friend that it was no accident that we had met the girl that evening. She replied that it gave her goose bumps to think God had parked them right next to us. “Now all we have to do is to understand what He wants us to do,” was her last comment on the subject.
The Spirit did it all in one night. He can do anything He likes. Of course He can. My friend is seeing how God works and cares about all people, and we now have a relationship with a little girl who needs Jesus badly. Our Christmas prayer would be that God works to develop a believing disciple in my friend, and to bring a hurting little girl into wholeness as she meets Him through the next weeks at Kids Club.
As the Spirit moves in the lives of kids and their families, we stand in awe. We love what we’re doing! We depend on your love gifts to continue this ministry of the Holy Spirit that is often a soothing balm to hurting people. Will you prayerfully consider beginning or continuing to partner financially with us this next year? We must raise an additional $742 in monthly support, and special gifts of $4,552. This will allow us to devote ourselves completely to reaching out to young children and their families with the love of Jesus. Would you prayerfully consider joining our support team at $50-$150 per month, or making a special gift of $250- $750?
Thanks so much and Merry Christmas!
P.S. To give, please fill out and return the enclosed commitment card with your gift made payable to The Navigators, or give online at www.navigators.org. May we hear from you by December 31? Thank you!
